“the attic” - i’ve caught the spoken word bug…

If you live in the DMV, you have probably seen a few spoken word performances, but there is one event that is def on my radar. “The Attic” at Station 9 not only features dynamic and eclectic spoken word artists, but the price is pretty much a steal! Arrive before 8:00 and have your name on the guest list and BAM! You are in one of the sexiest, most entertaining spoken word events for only $5.00! YES! Only $5.00. Now after 8:00 the price jumps to $10.00, but that is still relatively budgetfab, especially for DC!

I have been on three separate occasions and each time I have thoroughly enjoyed myself. Features have included 13 of Nazareth, Archie the Messenger and a host of local and regional artists that hit the open mic. Last week Onyx (of I Love NY Season 2) did an impromptu haiku. Quite entertaining if I do say so myself. One of the highlights of the event is the DJ that spins those records between performances and of course, after the event. As Jay-Z says, “After the show it’s the after party!”I encourage all you Socialite Aspirants to attend this one. You will be surrounded by good looking people with intelligent minds and the spoken word is guaranteed to awaken you. The Attic, the first Thursday of every month at Station 9 (located on U St. between 14th and 15th). Show begins at 8:00pm. Get there early because the only drawback to this event is that it does get crowded.

Ohhh - I want to go to this! I miss the whole “Bar Nun” days on U Street and I’ve been craving the spoken word audience! I definitely need to fluff out my afro, put on my cowboy boots and make my way over there! LOL.
