my boyfriend’s back!

Two of 2009’s spring fashion trends involve raiding the boyfriend’s closet - or at least looking like you did. Boyfriend blazers are (still) everywhere and boyfriend jeans are back (I’m personally a big fan of this trend). Here’s some tips on how to wear them and some great, budget-friendly, options.
How To Wear The Boyfriend Jeans Trend
Here are a few simple rules to follow from Fashionising.
- The jeans don’t actually have be your boyfriends or belong to a friend that’s a boy. Try jeans made for women that channel the look. But if you’re after real authenticity, check out your local denim store or vintage shop and check out the men’s section.
- Look for a straight leg. Bootcut or flared jeans aren’t flattering for this trend.
- Turn them up at the bottom. You’re not going to communicate the ‘oversized’ message unless your jeans are turned up.
- Try pairing boyfriend jeans with an overall feminine look. Or pair them with a tight fitting tee to really play up the masculine role. If you do choose to pair your boyfriend jeans with other masculine pieces make them tight. You have to show off your feminine features - we don’t want you looking like a bum.
How To Wear The Boyfriend Blazer
Here are a few simple rules to follow from SHEFIND.
- Try pairing a black boyfriend blazer with a bright, patterned cocktail dress for a fun evening look. Make sure the dress is somewhat fitted and falls above the knee - this will work well against the masculinity of the jacket.
- For a more casual look, try throwing the blazer over a feminine blouse or cami and slim jeans. Wearing more body conscious jeans to keep the volume on your top half.
- Or, go for something like Selita Ebanks look - throw a belt over the blazer.

I love the boyfriend blazer look! But I’ve never really been a fan of the boyfriend jean look. I feel that very few women can pull this off without looking completely ridiculous.
