mother’s day gift guide

Mother’s Day is a little over a week away and finding just the right thing for Mom can be tough. Well hopefully we can help. The {budget}fab* team has come up with a few suggestions for her mind, body and soul.
Mind
Reading is fundamental - even for mothers. :) The new wireless reading device from Amazon.com, the Kindle, would be a great gift for the moms that read a lot and perhaps travel quite a bit. It may be a budget buster at $359 for the newest version and $299.99 for the original version.
A {budget}fab* alternative would be to hit your local Barnes & Nobles or Borders and grab a giftcard, or a couple books by her favorite author or from her favorite genre. Arrange the books in a basket or container that’s a color she loves - it’s more personal than wrapping paper and she can keep it! (try Dollar Tree, Container Store or Homegoods)
Body
As fans of Carol’s Daughter products, we think a gift set from the beauty company would be great gift for Mom. Prices range from $34 for the “Love Your Feet” gift set (pictured below) to $82 for the “Almond Cookie Indulgence” package.
Encourage your mom to pamper herself with a trip to the spa! If she’s already a spa goer, get a gift certificate to her favorite place. If Mom is new to the whole spa thing, research the spas in your area and go with one you think she’ll enjoy. Like the spa idea, but don’t have time to do research? Get a SpaFinder gift certificate. It’s accepted at over 5,00 participating spas worldwide. Or, you mother can redeem her certificate at their online store for spa-at-home products.
Soul
For all the times she’s held your hand, given you a hug or wiped your tears - return the favor with something that will really touch your mom. Get her a CD of the music you know encourages her or tickets to the concert of an artist she finds inspiring.
Gift her a “Between Me and You” journal from Sand Dune Books. One of these is sure to get the tears goin’! Give the keepsake journal to your mother. Each book contains 35 - 45 fun-to-ask questions like “What are your memories of the day I was born?”. She has fun answering the questions and you get the journal back with handwritten responses you’ll cherish forever. You could also purchase the “Daughter” book, fill it out and give that to her as well. Each journal is only $14.95. Save 10% on orders placed by 5/4/09 with code: budgetfab.
