world cocktail week 2009

World Cocktail Week is going on right now and it’s a week long celebration of what else but cocktails! When the word cocktail, which means ‘any of various alcoholic drinks made of a distilled liquor mixed as with wine, fruit juice, or soda water and usually iced’ according to Your Dictionary was first used in 1806 a week long celebration commenced.

In order to continue this celebration, the Museum of the American Cocktail kicks off a week long celebration (May 6th - 13th) with all types of bars and restaurants across the world. Brightest Young Things has the 411 on all celebrations in DC. If you’re not in the DC area, but in a large metropolitan area, I’m sure there are events going on in your area as well. Try searching ”World Cocktail Week [insert your city here]” A week long celebration when the sunshine is finally starting to peek back out sounds like a good time to me so “Happy World Cocktail Week” it is!
