planning a fab* staycation

planning a fab* staycation

Just because spending a week in Aruba may be out of your budget, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t plan some time to relax.  If staying home or close to home is more in line with your finances - don’t fret!  There’s lots of information out there on planning a staycation (a period of time in which an individual or family stays at home and relaxes at home or takes day trips from their home to area attractions).  Here are some of my favorite tips on planning a successful staycation…

  1. Don’t treat your staycation like it’s less of a vacation just because you’re not traveling to an exotic location.  It’s all about relaxing, so be sure you take the time to plan an itinerary and do research like you would any other trip.  (Main Street)
  2. Create a DIY spa.  Click here for a few recipes.  (Main Street)
  3. Visit area museums, planetariums, gardens or observatories you haven’t been before. (Consumer Reports)
  4. Stay at a local Bed and Breakfast for one or two nights. (Consumer Reports)
  5. Schedule a start and end date to your staycation as you would a more traditional vacation. (ABC News)
  6. Take lots of photos of your staycation activities. (ABC News)

Have you already taken a staycation?  What did you do?

That may be an EXCELLENT idea next year when I buy some extra vacation from work. I think I’ll plan a nice little staycation by my lonesome!
