I ran across some great things to do in the DMV area for Oktoberfest, and I had to actually “google” what the background behind Oktoberfest is, I knew beer was involved, but surely there’s more. According to Wikipedia, Oktoberfest is a 16 day festival that’s held in Germany each year starting in late September and running until early October. The festival attracts more than 6 million people and features all kinds of traditional food items and tons of beer.

Well of course DC restaurants are featuring some exciting deals to celebrate Oktoberfest. Washingtonian’s Best Bites Blog has laid out a daily schedule of events including details on how to make reservations. My favorite night (Tuesday, 9/24) , and one that I’m seriously considering is the lobster boil at Argonaut, you pay $45 and you have unlimited lobster and Allagash beer from 7-10pm.

Another fave of mine is the wine tasting at Dupont Circle’s wine bar, Veritas. Wine experts will lead you through a blind wine tasting and tell you the 4-1-1 on how they’re able to identify different grapes. This event takes place on Saturday, the 26th from 5-7pm for $40.
