fab* talk: fall wardrobe shopping

“I could use some advice.  I need a lot of new clothes for fall and winter, but I’m not sure where to go shopping.  I’m on a budget, but I need a lot of stuff.  Where do you suggest I go?”

When your wardrobe is in need of a serious seasonal overhaul getting everything you need may feel overwhelming.  Here are a few of my suggestions…

  • Before you begin any major shopping, be sure you do a wardrobe audit.  Sometimes we think we have  something, but we don’t or we’re convinced we don’t have something and we do.  Knowing exactly what you have helps you make more accurate purchase decisions and can help keep you from overspending.
  • For your seasonal basics, hit up an outlet mall.  You should be able to find quality pieces at great prices.
  • Visit the websites of your favorite retailers and see if they send email newsletters.  If so, be sure to sign up to receive them, especially if you’re in the market for a lot of stuff.  These emails often include details on sales and exclusive offers which can help you stay within your budget.
  • Take a trip to the mall and check out the sale racks at your favorite stores.  You may be surprised at what you find.
  • Be patient.  Refreshing your wardrobe can take time - time to set a budget, figure out what you need and multiple trips to the mall or time online shopping.  Don’t buy things in a rush to get the shopping over with.  When you’re on a budget you can’t afford to buy things you don’t really like or need.

What are your seasonal shopping tips?
