Oftentimes trends come out and I have to question if I’m going to do the splurge or steal version. Trends come and go and some of us tend to hop on every splurge there is. There are often steal versions though that will accommodate our wallets much better.

I’d advise our {budget}fab* readers to save your splurge purchases for items that tend to be more timeless. Think black pumps, cognac boots, a nice leather bag. These are items from your wardrobe that you can wear again and again no matter what trends are in style.

With that said, check out these two suede look alikes and decide whether to get with this or that.

Steve Madden Tayla $95.96

That’s about a $40 savings just for purchasing a trendy item in a different brand! While I realize that the Steve Madden’s are suede while Michael Antonio is faux suede, how many times are you going to wear these and for how many seasons? Remember, if it’s an item that you’ll wear for a long time, it may be best to save up and go for the splurge. If not, take the steal and use the saved money to invest in a high yield savings account.
