Who doesn’t love a holiday party at work!?  Even if you only attend for a moment, steal a sugar cookie and enjoy light-hearted banter it is so much fun!  So, who is coordinating the holiday party in your place of work?  Why not you?  Here are a few, inexpensive and easy tips to get the holiday party started.

  1. Decide who you want to participate in the office party:  Perhaps planning a party for your entire office is a lofty endeavor.  To reduce the size, perhaps only include people in your department or just your floor of the office.
  2. Distribute a sign-in sheet and ask colleagues to contribute:  Cookies, soda, chips, dip and crackers are all great starts.  Ask your colleagues to bring one or two items on the list to evenly distribute the cost.
  3. Purchase decorations from Party City or the Dollar Tree:  Decorations don’t need to be overly extravagant or expensive.  Buy some simple decorations to set the  mood and be sure to save them for next year’s holiday party.
  4. Create a holiday playlist:  Update your MP3 with all of our favorite holiday tunes  and let them play throughout the party.  This is guaranteed to put everyone in the holiday spirit.
  5. Make your party interactive:  Perhaps you can have party-goers decorate their own cookies with icing and sprinkles, participate in a Secret Santa or a cake walk.
